Hi, my name is Marne.
I am a web developer by day, recipe junkie by night and founder of The Sunday Fork. My collection of family recipes started out when I left for college. My mom gifted me my very own recipe box with hundreds of handwritten recipes, all of my favorites so I could make them while far away from home. Even though that recipe box no longer holds all of my favorites, it is still one of my prized possessions.
My recipe obsession has grown over the years. The collection has moved across state lines multiple times and occupied way too much space in several apartments and homes. The collection has gone through several renovations and currently lives between a digital and physical state. Digitizing it has been an interesting adventure, one that will hopefully preserve it for generations to come.
Food to me means many things but first and foremost it needs to be fun. I enjoy trying new recipes, cooking techniques and kitchen gadgets – oh do I love the gadgets. If I get bored with a recipe, I find a way to change it and make it better – sometimes worse. But the main thing is that I try.
Cooking has always been an adventure for me. Something I can delve into to understand how flavors work or why this technique is better than others.
This is my first venture back into the personal web universe since Steve and I created a wedding website back in 1999. That site got us international recognition as one of the first destination wedding websites ever built. A Japanese radio show contacted us and wanted an interview. At the time we thought it had to be a hoax so ignored it, looking back we should have checked it out. Maybe we could have been on some wild game show!
It’s good to be back.
